TV channels & antenna towers in Ennis, Texas

Ennis, Texas has a population of about 19,000. Our map shows 39 licensed TV transmitters inside a 70-mile radius: 18 full-power, 2 Class A and 19 low-power. Based on each transmitter's power, antenna height and distance, 23 are likely to arrive at fair strength or better, and 17 at good or strong strength.

5 of them are within 25 miles of Ennis, 28 sit 25 to 45 miles away and 6 are more than 45 miles out. Five of the 11 network stations in range are licensed to Dallas, so most of the network channels you will find here come from Dallas's stations.

The strongest network signals here are ABC on channel 8 (WFAA), CBS on channel 11 (KTVT), NBC on channel 5 (KXAS-TV), Fox on channel 4 (KDFW), CW on channel 33 (KDAF), ION on channel 68 (KPXD-TV), Telemundo on channel 39 (KXTX-TV), Univision on channel 23 (KUVN-DT), MeTV on channel 55.2 (KAZD) and Trinity on channel 58 (KDTX-TV). Spanish-language viewers can pick up Telemundo (good signal) and Univision (good signal). 8 full-power stations in range have no network listed in our data; these are typically public television, religious, shopping or independent stations.

Point your antenna NW, at about 310°. The main network towers for Ennis sit in that direction, so a single directional antenna can pick them all up.

Eight network stations, KXTX-TV, KXAS-TV, KAZD, KUVN-DT and KDTX-TV and others, transmit from the same tower site about 27 miles northwest of Ennis (312° NW). Point at that site and a single antenna setting picks them all up.

Of the 10 full-power and Class A network signals that reach Ennis at fair strength or better, all arrive from the northwest, so this is an easy place to aim.

All of the main network towers are within their radio horizon as seen from Ennis, so signals arrive fairly directly and a well-placed antenna should hold them steadily.

The farthest main network tower for Ennis is KDFW (Fox), 27 miles away with a good estimated signal. That is why we suggest an amplified indoor or attic antenna here. If you only watch the closer stations, a smaller antenna may do.

An amplifier only helps here if you run a long cable (over about 50 feet) or split the antenna to several TVs. Otherwise better placement does more. See the amplifier guide.

With 23 stations at fair strength or better, Ennis ranks 213th of 1,039 places in Texas: more than the typical Texas town (14). Its nearest major network tower is 24 miles away, against a state median of 26 miles.

43% of Texas's cities and towns get the same recommendation: an amplified indoor or attic antenna. The nearest larger city is Lancaster, 20 miles away.
