TV channels & antenna towers in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

Coeur d'Alene is a city of about 49,100 people in Idaho. There are 53 licensed TV transmitters within 70 miles: 10 full-power, 12 low-power and 31 translators. Based on each transmitter's power, antenna height and distance, 14 are likely to arrive at fair strength or better, and 5 at good or strong strength.

By distance, 7 transmitters are within 25 miles, 9 between 25 and 45 miles, and 37 farther out. Six of the 6 network stations in range are licensed to Spokane, WA, so most of the network channels you will find here come from Spokane's stations.

For the networks, the best local options are ABC on channel 4 (KXLY-TV), CBS on channel 2 (KREM), NBC on channel 6 (KHQ-TV), Fox on channel 28 (KAYU-TV), CW on channel 22 (KSKN) and ION on channel 34 (KGPX-TV). 4 full-power stations in range have no network listed in our data; these are typically public television, religious, shopping or independent stations.

Of the 6 full-power and Class A network signals that reach Coeur d'Alene at fair strength or better, 83% arrive from the west; the rest are spread across one other direction.

All of the main network towers are within their radio horizon as seen from Coeur d'Alene, so signals arrive fairly directly and a well-placed antenna should hold them steadily.

The farthest main network tower for Coeur d'Alene is KAYU-TV (Fox), 25 miles away with a good estimated signal. That is why we suggest an amplified indoor or attic antenna here. Viewers who do not need that station can often manage with less.

An amplifier only helps here if you run a long cable (over about 50 feet) or split the antenna to several TVs. Otherwise better placement does more. See the amplifier guide.

With 14 stations at fair strength or better, Coeur d'Alene ranks 16th of 98 places in Idaho: more than the typical Idaho town (10). Its nearest major network tower is 23 miles away, against a state median of 35 miles.

45% of Idaho's cities and towns get the same recommendation: an amplified indoor or attic antenna. The nearest larger city is Spokane, 30 miles away.
